LAPEL GRAB RELEASES
1. Single Lapel Grab Pry Release
Your opponent grabs your left lapel with his right hand. When you are grabbed, your opponent keeps his right hand straight.
Begin by bending both of your knees to help you maintain your balance and then step backward with your left foot This will help break your opponent's vertical plain and pull him off-balance. (1) Grab your left lapel about 3 inches underneath your opponent's right hand and pull your lapel taut making it harder for him to maintain the grasp and setting him up for the pry release escape. (2) Place the palm of your left hand underneath the chop of your opponent's right hand. Keep your left elbow in close to your body. (3) Apply pressure to the chop of your opponent's right hand upward and over so that his right hand turns over. (4) Step back with your right foot and pull your left lapel toward your right hip, releasing you from the hold.
2. Single Lapel Grab Release Twisting Takedown From A Pull
Your opponent grabs your left lapel with his right hand. When you are grabbed, your opponent pulls you in toward him, wrapping his right hand up in your jacket.
Begin by bending both of your knees to maintain strong balance. (1) Reach your left hand toward the inside of the grabbing hand and grasp his hand, reaching as far into your jacket as you can. The deeper you reach, the more effective this technique will be. (2) As you step forward into your opponent with your left foot, twist his hand to the left in a counter-clockwise motion and take him to the ground. Make sure that you keep your knees bent at all times so that you won't lose your balance.
3. Single Lapel Grab Release By Rubbing/Striking Nerves On Top Of Hand
Your opponent grabs your left lapel with his right hand. When you are grabbed, your opponent keeps his right hand straight.
